Yoga was born in ancient India thousands of years ago. Bachelor of Science in Yogashastra (B.Sc. Yogashastra) is an undergraduate Yoga programme under the Faculty of Peace Studies, MITWPU. It is a 3 years, full-time, Choice-Based Credit program. The program is a well-balanced combination of coursework, research, and fieldwork. Maharishi Patanjali is known as the father of modern yoga. Although he did not invent yoga as it was already in various forms. Patanjal Yogsutra is included as core subject. We should also make students to realize the importance of Bhagavad Gita. This can encourage the habit of self-inquiry and guide students towards adopting a pragmatic approach to life. The role of breath is very important in the practice of asana or yoga postures. All types of Pranayams are included as Practical subject with all types of asanas. This program has a unique range of courses that provide flexibility and variety that suits the interests and needs of each Learner. The Program focuses on in-depth learning of the compulsory core courses- Darshanshastra, Hatha yoga, Gherand Sahita with an emphasis on Peace Studies.
